Internal Hemorrhoids

Internal hemorrhoids are veins that have swollen in the anal canal and have actually protruded through the wall lining in the rectum. Hemorrhoid sufferers can have internal hemorrhoids for many years without pain or any feeling and not even know that they are there. It is generally when the pain begins that it becomes a concern. Often, people do not even get the symptoms of hemorrhoids even though they have them and may have had them for years.

Known Causes of Internal Hemorrhoids

When a person has continual hard stools, the
stool pushes and rubs against the wall of the
    rectum and causes bleeding.

An internal hemorrhoid can prolapse meaning
that it protrudes through the anus. Often,
    there

are two stages of with prolapse with

    internal hemorrhoids.

Symptoms Of Internal Hemorrhoids

There are limited nerve endings in that area
so the pain may be mild, if at all. It often
causes minimal bleeding and it is alarming
since the bleeding is bright red.

There can be a steady flow of mucous from
the anus which can also be seen on the
toilet paper or the bowel movement itself.

There is a continual and very uncomfortable
burning and/or itching feeling caused by the
"leaking" and drainage from the internal
hemorrhoid. The skin in the anus becomes
    red and highly irritated.

Personally upsetting and often embarrassing
result of the internal hemorrhoids is leakage
of uncontrolled bowel movement from the
anus. The stool escapes through the anal
sphinter when the muscle and surrounding
    rectal area is swollen.

Stages Of Internal Hemorrhoids

The first stage is when the hemorrhoid protrudes out
of the anus when having a bowel movement, however,
it retracts back inside again upon finishing.

The second stage of a prolapsed hemorrhoid is when
it pushes through the anus and no longer retracts.

The discomfort level is generally  extremely high especially when the hemorrhoid sufferer has to move
his or her bowels.
