Bleeding Hemorrhoids
 Bleeding Hemorrhoids are common and
it occurs from internal hemorrhoids in the rectum. This is most often caused by the strain by"pushing" to pass
the stool.
Bleeding Hemorrhoids-Blood In
The Stool
Veins that line the walls of the anal canal become very swollen due to being
engourged with blood. The "bal-looning" veins create discomfort from "bulging out." Red streaks (blood) are
generally highly noticeable in the stool.
If this is happening to you, please consult a physician
immediately. It is highly probable that there is a fissure
or crack in the rectum which can be soothed or even
cured through simple antibiotics or a topical nitrogly-
cerin cream.
Creams And Medications Used For Immediate And Temporary
Relief
If the doctor does not find fissures, further tests should take place to check for
other causes of the blood which may be a more serious concern. A general statistic often used is that one out of
every four people bleeding from the rectum has a more serious illness (likely to be a
form of cancer). This is why it is critical to see a doctor.
Bright red blood is generally a
sign of bleeding hemorrhoids. If there is darker blood, it is often due
to bleeding higher up in the the anal canal which may
not be from bleeding hemorrhoids. Refer to: What
Are Hemorrhoids. The severity and color of the hemor-
rhoids often determine the amount of blood that is
seen.
There have been cases where those who have severe cases of
bleeding hemorrhoids experience massive
blood in and on the toilet. When a person loses too
much blood, there are concerns for an iron deficiency.
This is one reason taking a blood test is important is to make sure that levels of iron are sufficient in
the bloodstream.
There could also be the concerns of anemia for those
with high blood loss. Most hemorrhoid sufferers, how-
ever, have little bleeding from the hemorrhoids, if any.
